Overview
AI for Innovation and Problem Solving course in Melbourne and across Australia. Face-to-face training courses available.
This full-day course helps participants move beyond using AI as a simple chat tool and begin using it as a practical partner for innovation and problem solving. During the first half of the day, participants build a clear foundation in generative AI, including how AI tools and models work, how to write effective prompts, and how to provide the right context to improve results. They also explore important considerations such as accuracy, bias, privacy, security and human accountability, while applying AI to established frameworks to strengthen analysis, challenge assumptions and turn insights into practical actions.
In the second half of the day, participants put these skills into practice through the AI for Innovation & Problem Solving Start-up Game. Working through a structured four-phase innovation framework covering discovery, ideation, design and delivery, teams use AI to investigate a problem, generate and test ideas, identify risks, refine a proposed solution and prepare a final pitch. The activity combines collaborative problem solving with hands-on AI use, helping participants experience where AI can add value and where human judgement, creativity and decision-making remain essential.

What is AI for Innovation and Problem Solving and what does the AI course teach?
The course introduces a fundamental overview of AI and how to use Generative AI to help with innovation and problem solving.
This course is designed for teams who want to move beyond using AI as a simple chat tool and start using it as a genuine problem-solving partner. Participants spend the morning building a solid foundation in how AI works and how to use it well, then spend the afternoon putting that foundation into practice by working through a structured innovation framework, using AI at each stage to challenge their thinking, test their assumptions, and strengthen their solution.
The second half of the day focusses on playing the Start-up Game where we then use AI to assist with issues and challenges in the game.

It is aimed at everyday business users, office staff, professionals, and teams who want to leverage AI to boost productivity, no prior AI experience is needed.
If you already use Microsoft 365 apps or general document authoring tools and want to work smarter (less manual work, faster document creation, better collaboration), this course would suit you.

By the end of the course you should be able to:
• Learn the core AI terminology, tools and models so you can hold your own in any AI conversation.
• Learn how to write effective prompts and provide the right context to get useful results.
• Understand the ethical and practical limitations of AI, including bias, hallucination and accountability.
• Learn a human-centric approach to working with AI, where AI supports your thinking rather than replaces it.
• Apply AI directly to a real problemsolving framework, using it to challenge assumptions, generate alternatives and sense-check decisions at each stage.

Do I need to have previous AI or advanced IT skills to take this course?
No, the training does not require prior AI knowledge.

Which AI tools do we cover during training?
We don’t really cover any specific AI tools, we cover the overall use of AI to be more specific. We do however showcase workflows using Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.
AI for Innovation & Problem Solving
Is any special license or software required to use AI during training?
No, not specifically, there are generous free offerings from most AI companies, but a license for a GPT like Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini is recommended
A license is required though if you intend on creating Agents, and you require better overall integration with existing tools.
